Workshop - interactive simulation exercises
The Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) 2010 Workshop
will take place on Wednesday 14 April. It aims to bring together people from around the world with different professional interests and expertise to explore options and new ideas for controlling and eradicating FMD incursions. The workshop will be based around a simulated outbreak of FMD in an Australian setting and will use a scenario approach to consider a range of key issues and concerns in the different phases of an outbreak.
Topics for groups to explore include:
- Vaccination
- Proof of Freedom
- Diagnostic Technologies
- Management of FMD in endemic situations
Presentations from the preceding two days of the Symposium will provide updates on various important aspects surrounding the understanding and control of FMD from both global and regional perspectives. The outcomes of this program should help prepare participants for the Workshop. However, participants will also be given opportunities to draw on their own expertise and experience to engage with each other during the Workshop. We expect that more effective approaches and strategies for combating global FMD problems can be collectively developed and aim to generate practical information that can be used by decision-makers, scientists and other interested groups.
The Workshop will also provide an excellent forum for networking with your colleagues in the FMD field working in different areas including epidemiology, virology, diagnostics, disease control and policy development.
